Schools will re-open only for the Grade 7 and 12 on the 1st of June. Parents should prepare their children as they will be going back to school soon. Angie Motshekga said “all curriculum enrichment programmes will be put on hold until further notice. We want to focus on the core business of basic education which is curriculum implementation”.
There have been 1 577 vandalized schools, 463 in KZN and 336 in Gauteng, some have been burned and some appliances were stolen.
She also stated that department was confident of providing water to all schools and also pupil transport will resume and they will have to sanitize and wear masks.
Teachers will start attending schools on the 25 May, just to make sure that the environment is clean enough and sanitized and also makes sure that there are food for students who will start attending on the 1st of June.
Angie Motshekga said all the learners will be screened and sanitized before they enter the school premises and also makes sure that there is social distancing.
